Second Street Second Chances

Second Street Second Chances is a 501(c)(3) organization that’s focus is to reduce recidivism rates of formerly incarcerated individuals in Berkshire County. The organization is committed to providing the tools, programs, and support to encourage a successful new beginning in Berkshire County. Founded in 2022, Second Street came to Katalyst to help guide the Board and staff to develop and launch a sustainable and thriving organization.

Purposeful Change

Kris and the Katalyst team worked together with Second Street to create a strong organizational framework to launch its identity and plans for the future. 

How Katalyst Activated Change

  • Managed vendor oversight to accomplish development of brand identity and collateral

  • Established bank accounts and secured insurance coverage

  • Assisted in selecting a constituent relationship management (CRM) software package and staff training

  • Located various vendor services such as banking, insurance, branding, bookkeeping, and website design

  • Assisted with an ARPA grant application which successfully secured $700,000 over three years for the organization.

  • Provided coaching to the new Executive Director and the Board President as policies, procedures, programs, and community partners as were developed.

  • After providing consultative services to Second Street for a year, Katalyst facilitated a strategic planning process and developed a sustainability plan with the Board and senior staff. Katalyst continues to coach the Executive Director and is supporting the implementation of these plans.
